Indraya Story

Romance Rituals for Couples to keep the Spark Alive.

TLDR: Indraya began with a quiet moment in Amsterdam that made me realise how far we’ve drifted from India’s intimacy heritage. We’re bringing it back as couple-first, design-led romance rituals that help partners stay connected, for the long run.

The moment that changed everything

Two years ago, I was in Amsterdam on an ordinary weekday. I wandered into a museum with no plan. I turned a corner and stopped.

In front of me was an Indian panel, Khajuraho-like in spirit, carved figures in intimate embrace. It sat under warm light and clean glass. A couple next to me leaned in and read the placard like it was fine art. Students were sketching. Nobody looked away.

And I, an Indian, felt uncomfortable but proud.

Not because it was “too much”. Because it was ours, and I realised I had inherited the habit of flinching.

That moment landed as one question:

When did we forget how to approach love with ease, intention, and taste?

What modern couples quietly miss

In India, we live with a strange contradiction: a rich intimacy heritage, yet modern couples still struggle to talk about romance without stigma.

Most products fall into extremes: explicit and awkward, or overly clinical and functional. And very few are designed for the full couple experience.

Most couples don’t want drama. They want small, simple ways to feel close again:

  • A soft start (not a sudden switch)
  • Emotional connection (feeling chosen, not rushed)
  • Discovery (playful prompts that don’t feel cringe)
  • Aftercare (a warm ending that makes the night feel complete)

Then I started listening

A year ago, I began building Indraya. Before anything else, I listened to couples.

Educated, committed partners beyond the honeymoon phase. People who love each other, but feel the spark getting buried under routine.

I heard things like:

  • “I don’t want it to feel like a chore. I want it to feel indulgent and mutual.”
  • “I don’t want it to feel routine. I want it to be playful and surprising.”
  • “We don’t know how to start without it feeling awkward.”

What they needed wasn’t “more effort”.

It was a better beginning, and a gentler ending.

Our insight at Indraya became a sentence I could not let go of:
Romance is a ritual, not a performance.

So I built Indraya

Indraya comes from Indriya, the Sanskrit word for the senses: sight, scent, sound, taste, touch.

Because for most couples, romance returns through the senses. Not through pressure. Not through performance. Through a shift in ambience, attention, and pace.

Indraya builds premium, non-explicit romance rituals for special nights, the kind you remember.

What our ritual kits focus on

Every Indraya kit is designed around three phases:

1) The Soft Start (Foreplay, reimagined)

Anticipation, ambience, slow touch.

2) Discovery

Prompts and play that spark curiosity without awkwardness.

3) Aftercare

Comfort and closeness, so endings feel gentle.

In other words: we don’t just sell products. We design experiences.

Why we’re education-first

In a category shaped by taboo, couples need one thing most: guidance that feels grown-up.

We use education to reduce awkwardness and build trust, so couples feel confident trying something new at home, in a way that feels safe and tasteful.

It’s also why rituals matter: repeatable rituals of connection help couples stay close over time.
